Now that you’re checked in, here’s some House Info you should know!

The Ins and Outs 

In addition to our historic Inn, Gifford House comprises several entertainment spaces that feature bars, live music, dancing, theater, wellness and educational seminars, drawing classes, comedy shows, and more! These spaces are the Porch Bar, The Wilde Playhouse, the Love Lounge, the iconic Club Purgatory, and new to summer 2024 is The Yard. There is always magic and fun brewing at our House, and as our honored guest, you’re invited to enjoy it all! A few notes on the entertainment at Gifford House:

All noise generated by any event ends by 1 am nightly.

Guests of the House get free admission* into Club Purgatory for the duration of your stay, as well as free admission into High Tea in the Yard. At the Club and Yard entrance, tell our door person your room number and name on the reservation and you’ll be granted free admission. (*Free entry excludes Wednesday night and special/ticketed events, and is limited to the number of guests listed on the reservation).

Tidying up

  • If you would like your room to be refreshed by our cleaning staff during your stay, please use the door tag on the handle of your room door. Cleaning occurs daily between 10am and 2pm (if you place your card on your door after 12pm it is likely you will miss the refresh for the day.

  • If you need fresh towels, extra toilet paper, Qtips, cotton rounds, ear plugs, or your trash can changed please be in touch with the front desk and we’re happy to take care of that for you, even outside of cleaning hours it is an easy thing for us to take care of for you.

  • Kindly always remember to tip our cleaning staff if you feel they have earned it.

Checking out

  • Check-out time for guests (and cars) is by 11am on the day you’re scheduled to check out.
    Please understand that we cannot accommodate requests for a late check-out or early check-in during our busy season (May thru September).
    If you are here in the off-season, we may be able to accommodate a late check-out, but be sure to reach out to us in advance.

  • If you are staying in our Annex, please return your keys to the front desk at check out.

  • For guests staying in the Main Building, check out is contact free.

  • We can always stow your luggage for you in our Lounge area for the day (at your risk), before or after your stay with us.

  • If you were issued a parking permit for your stay, please be sure to either drop it off at the reception desk before you depart.

  • Upon departing your room, hang the green “Please make up room” door tag on your doorknob to let our staff know.

  • AIR CONDITIONING (Summer)

    Each room has an air conditioning unit, and there is a small white remote that controls the unit.

    SPACE HEATERS (Winter): Each room has its own space heater, and there is a small black remote that controls the unit

  • Each room has a Smart TV with access to an assortment of live TV channels and streaming apps, like Netflix, Apple TV+ and Amazon Prime, and more which you can use to sign in to your personal account.

    • HISENSE TVs: For news, sports, and other live TV click the white “VIDAAtv” button on the remote. Then click the menu button (square with an equal sign =) and select “Channel list”. On the right-side menu, you can search TV by category (news, reality, entertainment, sports, etc). You can also use the “search channel feature”.

    • VIZIO TVs: For news, sports, and other live TV click the Home button, scroll the menu on the left-side and select “Live TV”. For the TV guide of live channels press the “OK” button.

    Please note, if you log in to any streaming service please log out of your account before checking out.

    • Each room has an alarm clock that has a bluetooth speaker, charging ports, and a wireless charging top.

    • Beach towels and sunscreen are available in the Biedermeier hutch in the lobby, to the right of the couch. If you use one, please return it to the front desk so we can clean and dry it for other guests in the future.

Morning Refreshments:

  • Coffee, tea, and fresh fruit are available in the lounge by the reception area every morning from 8:30 am - 10:30 am.

  • If you require ice, during the daytime please speak with our front desk or send us a text. After 5pm, our bar staff at Porch Bar can assist you.

  • While we don’t serve breakfast, here are some personal faves within walking distance that do: Cafe Heaven, Liz’s Café, Yoqueria, Bayside Betsy’s, Post Office Café, and Chach.

  • There is a water station in our lobby area that has cold, hot, and room temperature water available 24/7.

A friendly reminder…

  • BY LAW, NO SMOKING IS ALLOWED INSIDE OUR BUILDING OF ANY KIND. Smoking is allowed outside on the porch of our Porch Bar. If the scent of smoke is detected in your room, you will be automatically be assessed a fine of $500, plus any cleaning costs incurred. You are free to smoke cigarettes, cannabis or vapes as legally allowed in our side patio area, but please be respectful of other guests who may not like smoke and be mindful as to not throw your smoking debris anywhere on the property other than an ashtray. Candles and incense burning are not allowed in guest rooms.

  • Only alcoholic beverages bought on site can be consumed here by state law. While Provincetown may be a party town, Massachusetts state law prohibits open containers in public, so it is illegal to exit the property with an open container.
